Building Beyond Bridges: Fostering Faculty Collaboration, Connection, and Capacity in the Student Voting Space – Apr 14-16,20-21
Posted by Faculty Network for Student Voting Rights on April 6, 2021
After the most participatory election in American history, we are at a crucial time in our democracy. With the 50th Anniversary of the 26th Amendment this year, we have an opportunity to celebrate the power of young voters. Unfortunately, many states have responded with efforts to suppress and restrict voting rights. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, more than 165 restrictive voting bills have been introduced, prefiled, or carried over in 35 states as of February of this year. Many of those bills would have an outsized impact on students voters.
The role of a faculty member is pivotal to ensuring that students are active participants in our democracy. The Faculty Network for Student Voting Rights’ (FacNet) invites you to our first virtual spring retreat Building Beyond Bridges: Fostering Faculty Collaboration, Connection, and Capacity in the Student Voting Space. The retreat will be hosted over five days (April 14, April 15, April 16, April 20, April 21).
Who: All faculty at any institution of higher education
What: A virtual retreat fostering faculty collaboration, connection, and capacity in the student voting space
Where: Register for a zoom link for the sessions
When: April 14, April 15, April 16, April 20, April 21 between 1:00-3:30pm ET
This retreat will provide faculty with resources that can help them implement voter engagement efforts on their campus and will help FacNet brainstorm ways to continue helping faculty in 2021 and beyond, which includes a look at our mission statement, vision, and goals.
To show our appreciation to those who attend at least two sessions, you can get a coffee on us (i.e. $5 gift card) as a way to say thank you!
