Special Issue of Prompt: Social Justice Writing Assignments, Toward a Politics of Location
Posted by The Prompt Journal on January 26, 2021
Issue 5.1 of Prompt: A Journal of Academic Writing Assignments: Social Justice Writing Assignments, Toward a Politics of Location, has been published and is freely available via our website. This special issue is the first of two our journal is doing on writing assignments related to social justice. (The second will be published a year from now.) These issues are both guest-edited by Ann E. Green and Wiley Davi.
It feels appropriate that this special issue on social justice appears on the day we celebrate the life and activism of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Current events in the U.S. continually remind us that ideologies that seek to oppress and minoritize people remain popular many years after King’s assassination. Many of the structures of oppression he fought against likewise persist. My hope is that this issue helps our journal’s readers continue to think about the ways we might use the teaching of writing to fight these ideologies and structures of oppression within and beyond our campuses.
The full issue and individual articles are available on the journal’s site.
