Roddenderry Foundation Welcomes Proposals for Roddenderry Prize
An initiative of the Roddenderry Foundation, the Roddenberry Prize seeks to highlight extraordinary organizations and support their efforts to achieve greater impact as well as creative, innovative approaches to urgent problems confronting the global community.
Through the program, four awards of $250,000 will be granted to organizations working in the areas of education, environment, science, or humanity. In addition to the four $250,000 awardees, up to five organizations in each field will be recognized publicly as prize finalists.
Criteria for the prize are innovativeness, potential for impact, vision, and track record.
The foundation welcomes prize applications from individuals, nonprofits, social enterprises, and B-corps who meet the following criteria: are organization or an individual (18 years of age or older) whose primary work is either education, science, environment, or humanity; are able to submit an application in English and include completed responses to all required application questions; and are legally able to receive grant funding.
Applications for round one grants must be submitted by April 10, 5:00 PM PDT. The team at the Roddenberry Foundation will review submissions to ensure they comply with prize eligibility and rules, and a panel of vetters will evaluate applications using a scoring rubric.
A select number of applications will be invited to submit application for round two of the prize starting May 11. Only those who are invited to resubmit for round two will remain in consideration for the prize. Invited applicants will have four weeks to submit their round two applications.
The 2020 Roddenderry Prize awardees will be announced on the Roddenderry Prize website in August.
