Leeway Foundation Invites Applications for Art and Change Grants, Apply by Mar. 1
Posted by Leeway Foundation on December 10, 2019
The Art and Change Grant (ACG) provides project-based grants of up to $2,500 to women and trans artists in Greater Philadelphia to fund art for social change projects.
The Leeway Foundation believes that art is a vital tool for community building, self-expression, and individual and collective transformation and can bridge difference, center those who have been on the margins, and challenge and connect communities and individuals to live in peaceful coexistence. To that end, the foundation works to promote artistic expression that amplifies the voices of those on the margins, promotes sustainable and healthy communities, and works in the service of movements for economic and social justice. To advance its mission, the foundation is inviting applications for its Art and Change Grant program.
The foundation encourages those with an art-for-social-change project or opportunity that impacts a larger group, audience, or community and a financial need and limited or no access to other financial resources to apply. Recognizing that most art and social change work happens through relationships with other people or organizations, the foundation encourages projects that are supported by and/or in collaboration with a change partner, defined as a person, organization, or business that is part of an applicant’s project in some way and/or is a member of the community in which the project takes place. Eligible change partners may include mentors, editors, art spaces, theaters, nonprofit organizations, dance studios, radio stations, and production companies.
As noted by the foundation, Leeway is a trans-affirming organization committed to gender self-determination and uses the term “trans” in its most inclusive sense, as an umbrella term encompassing transsexual, transgender, genderqueer, Two-Spirit people, and anyone whose gender identity or gender expression is nonconforming and/or different from their gender assigned at birth.
Eligible applicants must live in the greater Philadelphia region, which includes Philadelphia and the counties of Bucks, Camden, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery.
See the Leeway Foundation website (https://www.leeway.org/) for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
