JP Morgan Chase AdvancingCities Challenge, Submit by Dec. 13
Posted by JPMorgan Chase & Company on December 10, 2019
This announcement serves to provide clear guidance for applicants seeking the Kenney Administration’s support for the JPMorganChase AdvancingCities Challenge (JPMC Challenge). The JPMC Challenge is a five-year initiative to invest lasting solutions intended to give people career pathways and financial security, increase the growth and hiring of more small business owners, and create economically vibrant neighborhoods. The Challenge is open to partnerships led by not-for-profit organizations that meet the eligibility requirements. Full guidelines can be found at www.jpmorganchase.com/advancingcities.
The JPMC Challenge seeks to support creative, collaborative and sustainable solutions that address cross-cutting challenges to help more people benefit from a growing economy. Successful applicants will be eligible to receive a three-year grant of up to $5 million. JPMC expects to award 4-6 grants nationally.
1. Place-Based Track
Focused on place-based strategies at the neighborhood level, this track allows for more inclusive partnerships with an emphasis on affordable housing as a key component of the strategy. For the Place-Based Track, JPMC will be looking to support an existing equitable neighborhood plan with a focus on housing.
While recognizing that there may be more than one place-based application per city, the City of Philadelphia will give priority to those projects that align with existing City policy priorities and neighborhoods.
Please refer to the Growing with Equity: Philadelphia’s Vision for Inclusive Growth (https://www.phila.gov/media/20190502112652/Growing-With-Equity.pdf) and Housing Action Plan (https://www.phila.gov/documents/housing-for-equity-an-action-plan-for-philadelphia/) for guidance.
2. Systems Change Track
JPMC will support a collaboration that aligns and integrates existing city-wide, cross-sector efforts to drive more inclusive growth. Cities may only endorse one application for this track, and that applicant must be an established coalition led by a high-capacity, nonprofit organization.
The Mayor will endorse a single application to JPMC for the city-wide, Systems Change Track. That application should demonstrate an existing, multi-dimensional partnership that 1) prioritizes entrepreneurship and business development, especially for entrepreneurs of color and the future workforce; and 2) aligns with the City’s inclusive growth strategy, Growing with Equity: Philadelphia’s Vision for Inclusive Growth.
Process & Timeline
The City requests the following information be provided by prospective applicants to enable an informed decision on which Systems Change Track application will be most competitive, have a strong likelihood for success and thus be endorsed:
Brief outline of the JPMC Challenge proposal to include:
1) Description of how your proposal will address one of the two tracks identified by JPMC.
2) Demonstrated understanding of the needs of the community to be served.
3) Brief outline of the partnership and members’ roles, demonstrating strong institutional relationships, description of applicant organization, capacity, experience, and services to be coordinated.
Please submit your proposals to Ashley Del Bianco, Chief Grants Officer, at Ashley.DelBianco@phila.gov by 5pm on Friday, December 13, 2019 to be considered for recommendation. The Systems Change Track proposal that will be elevated by the City will be announced on December 20, 2019. The lead Systems Change Track applicant, and prospective Place-Based Track applicants, may receive additional guidance and support from the City to ensure alignment with City and JPMC goals.
Completed Phase I entries must then be submitted to JPMC by January 15, 2020.
