Temper of the Times Foundation Invites Applications for Environmental Advertising

Established in 1997, the Temper of The Times Foundation was created to promote the use of standard marketing concepts for increasing awareness about wildland conservation and restoration initiatives. Recognizing that organizations working to protect the environment have limited access to paid media in general, the foundation provides funds to underwrite advertising designed to promote the conservation and restoration of native wildlife, plants, and ecosystems in the United States. The foundation also supports earned media campaigns and other efforts to communicate about conservation and restoration initiatives and actions.

To that end, the foundation awards grants of between $5,000 and $15,000 to help underwrite advertising that will lead to measurable outcomes for wildland ecosystem conservation and restoration in the United States. Grants may be used to fund the production of print, radio, or television ads; to pay for advertising space or airtime; and/or to produce or distribute pamphlets, books, videos, or press packets. Because grants are for wildland ecosystem advertising campaigns (not for general organizational support), they may not be used to cover costs associated with the production of organizational newsletters, membership campaigns, or for staff salaries. In addition, the foundation does not fund lobbying efforts or candidates for political office.

To be eligible, applicants must be a nonprofit organization classified as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

See the Temper of the Times website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.

Deadline: December 16, 2019
