IgniteSTEM Conference

IgniteSTEM is a free conference  put on for STEM educators and leaders to join in transforming K-12 education through innovative approaches found in hackathons, design thinking, and maker spaces. The spring Philadelphia conference will be held on March 29th at the University of Pennsylvania,.

The conference is filled with hands-on learning methods, workshops, and keynotes from thought leaders in the field of STEM Education and Technology. The conference will focus on using hackathons (24 hour innovation competitions), maker/innovation spaces, and design thinking approaches as vehicles to stimulate learning in new and innovative ways. Attendees will leave with partnerships to the IgniteSTEM network and mentors, making key connections with people promoting STEM Education in the Philadelphia region. They will also leave with a rich pool of STEM resources such as take home “how to” guides on creating makerspaces and organising hackathons (called Hack-In-A-Box), along with. The goal is not only to provide STEM leaders with the tools they need to promote local STEM Education efforts , but to inspire and empower them.

Logistics wise, the conference will run on Friday March 29th from 2pm to 6pm at UPenn. As an attendee of the conference, you will be joining  in igniting education with leaders including Yasmin Kafai, Chair of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership Division at UPenn; Rafe Steinhauer Professor of Entrepreneurship and Design Thinking at Princeton, and more.
