How You Will Contribute
For the Art Table Program, the division of Education at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) will place two [2] local artists at Broad Street Ministry to work collaboratively to lead a weekly 90-minute art class. Classes will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-2:30pm, onsite at Broad Street Ministry. Working together, the artists will design a unique studio experience for participants. The duration of on-site collaboration between artists will be 12-weeks total, March-May 2019. Artists will be paid for their participation, as well as receive free admission to the Museum for one year.

Notification will be sent to the two selected artists by Tuesday, February 5. Selected artists must present their artwork to PMA and BSM staff during the week of February 11th, dates TBA. Selected artists must also attend an orientation and volunteer shift at BSM and planning meeting with PMA staff before the start of teaching assignment. There will also be a debrief meeting the first week of June.

Specifically, you will…

• Lead weekly 90-minute art lessons, during Broad Street Ministry’s Art Table, Tuesdays 1:00-2:30pm. Allow an additional 60 minutes for setup, breakdown, and transitional time in and out of space.
• Manage the preparation, set-up, implementation, and clean-up of workshops.
• Cultivate a safe learning environment where creativity is encouraged
• Attend two meetings (planning and wrap-up).

• Experience working with displaced and/or transient populations. Knowledge of trauma informed and/or restorative practices.
• Experience and desire working in diverse, community-based settings.
• Advocate of social, racial, and economic justice; Knowledge of anti-oppression and anti-racist principles.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, plan ahead, anticipate and articulate program needs, and work independently.
• Ability to problem-solve, be flexible, imaginative, think on your feet.
