2018 Kids Count Data Book published by Casey Foundation
The Annie E. Casey Foundation has released the 2018 KIDS COUNT Data Book, presenting national and state-level data on 16 key indicators of child well-being.
Indicator domains include Economic Well-Being, Education, Health, and Family and Community. States are ranked, best to worst, on overall child well-being, and on each of the four domains.
National trends show some improvement over the years since the Great Recession, particularly in the Economic domain, but many racial inequities persist. A Foreword spotlights the threats to well-being posed by the possibility that the 2020 Census count—vital for an equitable distribution of resources across communities—will miss as many as a million children.
