Theme: Shifting from Trauma to Resilience: Supporting Catholic Urban Education School Communities Through Trauma Informed Practices
The Catholic Urban Education Seminar brings together k-12 teachers and educational leaders, higher education professors and staff, aspiring teachers, community members, and faith leaders to focus on exemplar strategies needed to facilitate equitable practices for all students.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Ernest Morrell. Dr. Morrell is the Coyle Professor of Literacy Education and Director of the Center for Literacy Education at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Morrell has also written more than 80 articles and book chapters that have appeared in publications. Further, in 2015, 2016, and 2017, Dr. Morrell was ranked among the top 100 university-based education scholars in the Annual EdWeek RHSU Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings.
Earn ACT 48 credits by attending dynamic workshop sessions that include a focus on:
· Trauma and Play Therapy
· Creating Trauma Sensitive Classrooms
· Fostering Resilience and Building Assets in Students Who Have Experienced Trauma
· Analyzing Hip-Hop Lyrics as a Means to Explore Trauma in Black males
