The Intersection of Community, Academia, and Grantmaking

This symposium offers training and education on developing, pitching, and funding innovative project ideas that utilize community-academic partnerships. Participants will receive an introduction to the current funding landscape and learn best practices to develop and sustain community-academic partnerships.
This symposium is part of the Community Scholars Program, a program led by the Center for Public Health Initiatives, primarily supported by the University of Pennsylvania’s Office of the Provost, with additional support and partnership from the Prevention Research’s Center’s Philadelphia Health Leadership Institute, Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and the Penn School of Medicine’s National Center for Integrated Behavioral Health, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, and Division of General Medicine. As part of the symposium, Community Scholars will pitch their ideas for evidence-based interventions that improve health outcomes. Pitches will be judged by a panel of local funders.
