Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery where people profit from the control and exploitation of others.
Although slavery is commonly thought to be a thing of the past, human trafficking still exists today throughout the United States and globally when traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to control other people for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex or forcing them to provide labor services against their will. Traffickers use violence, threats, deception, debt bondage, and other manipulative tactics to trap victims in horrific situations every day in America. All trafficking victims share one essential experience – the loss of freedom.
Come join us grow the awareness about this ongoing systematic issue that affects all of humanity, and learn what we can all do to eradicate the stain of Slavery from our beautiful world.
This training builds on knowledge gleaned from our annual HT 101 training and focuses more deeply on screening for trafficking and appropriate responses for victims. By the end of the training, participants will have a higher level of understanding of sex and labor trafficking; gaining intermediate level knowledge of HT dynamics and a matching skill set.
Participants will:
*Learn to identify signs of human trafficking
*Practice practical skills for screening & assessment, and learn appropriate responses to disclosures
*Utilize tools to develop and implement screening protocols
*Be familiarized with local resources in order to make referrals and build professional relationships
