Summary Statement
The Branch Director is the key strategy driver for Experience Corps in the Philadelphia branch. This entrepreneurial leader must be able to make critical decisions within the context of competing priorities. The Branch Director will ensure compliance with all AARP Foundation policies, advance the EC National Office priorities, and effectively manage the branch staff in crafting and implementing the strategy for the branch. Central to this work will be productive working relationships with respective school district representatives, school staff, and community partners who will support engaging older adult volunteers in the Experience Corps program. The Branch Director leads work with key community partners and funding organizations to secure an environment that can deliver a highly-effective and sustainable Experience Corps program.

Responsibilities
AARP Foundation Experience Corps is an intergenerational volunteer-based tutoring program that is proven to help children who aren’t reading at grade level become better readers by the end of third grade. We inspire and empower adults 50 and older to serve in their community and disrupt the cycle of poverty by making a lasting difference in the lives of America’s most vulnerable children.

The Experience Corps model is a proven intervention with measurable benefits for students, as well as positive mental and physical health benefits for volunteers who participate. By helping young students become better readers, Experience Corps seeks to ensure a lasting legacy of strong futures, supported schools and empowered volunteers.

During the last school year (2015-2016) 1,993 volunteer tutors helped 31,466 K-3rd grade students in 241 schools in cities across the country.
