Assistant Director of Internships, Temple University

The Assistant Director will support the Temple University President’s commitment of providing opportunities across all disciplines to foster student entrepreneurship and innovation, so that Temple students will be “real-world ready.” The incumbent will collaborate with the Career Center Employer Relations team and individual Schools and Colleges to identify internship opportunities and disseminate information to students. The Assistant Director will identify job-shadowing, research and entrepreneurial opportunities for industries/majors that do not offer formalized internship programs. Supporting the University’s Merit Scholar program and expanding the on-campus University Internship program will be an essential function of this position.
This key member of the Career Center’s team will lead activities related to internships and experiential education to prepare students for life after graduation. The Assistant Director will work with other Career Center staff members to guide students through the internship search process beginning with engaging first and second year students, networking, resume writing, interviewing skills, and internship search strategies.
Tracking outcomes will be a responsibility of this position. The Assistant Director will monitor internship experiences by surveying students and conducting site visits to meet with students and their supervisors while completing internships. The Assistant Director will manage student and employer internship evaluations to assess successful experiences. The incumbent will track and report student internship / experiential activities and their relationship to job and graduate school outcomes.
In order to educate students about the importance of Internships, the Assistant Director will create narrative reports and presentations about students successful internship stories. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience with a focus on career development in a University setting. Experience working with students regarding career preparation and internship search advice. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Ability to interact with potential employers to develop relationships and opportunities for students.
*Knowledge of recruiting and career management processes and activities in a university setting including the use of CRM systems such as NACElink, Experience, CSO.
*Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
*Ability to work with a diverse group of students and a variety of constituencies including students, alumni, faculty and administrators.
