The Mentoring And Student Teaching program at Haverford College

The Mentoring And Student Teaching program (MAST) is a long-standing outreach program run by Haverford College. The program provides laboratory experience and writing tutorials for 40-50 Philadelphia area high school and middle school students who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. The young students come to the Haverford campus for ten Saturdays in the spring semester and spend mornings in the lab pursuing scientific experiments and afternoons working on writing skills. Haverford and Bryn Mawr College students prepare the course curricula, devise and teach the scientific labs, and work with small groups of high school and middle school students as writing tutors, and faculty and staff members act as advisers for this program. Please share information about MAST with students in grades 6-12 who you feel would benefit from our program.
