Peer Learning Circles for Emerging Leaders
Posted by La Salle University on August 24, 2015
Are you looking for a way to connect with other future nonprofit leaders?
Are you interested in taking on more responsibility in the future?
Discover support for tomorrow’s leaders through Peer Learning Circles for Emerging Leaders from The Nonprofit Center.
Hundreds of current and future nonprofit leaders have found inspiration, support, insight and joint problem-solving through Peer Learning Circles, small, confidential think tanks where they explore concerns, challenges and common issues.
The Nonprofit Center is currently forming new Emerging Leader Peer Learning Circles for nonprofit managers who are considering future roles as executive directors.
If you are a current nonprofit leader and want to support potential future leaders, you can do so by sending appropriate staff to a learning circle.
If you know that leadership is in your future, participate in a learning circle to explore what that role might look like, and clarify issues that might impact your choices.
If you are unsure if being an executive director is the right path for you, a learning circle will help shape your decision and trajectory.
How Emerging Leaders Peer Learning Circles Work
Small groups of 7-8 individuals, in similar stages in their nonprofit careers, meet for two hours each month for eight months, raising pressing questions for the group to use its collective wisdom to jointly problem solve, thus forming a personal think tank of people who understand and relate to your situation.
A professional facilitator keeps the group focused and on track, but each session truly belongs to its members who determine the topics and shape the discussion.
Groups Forming Now
The Nonprofit Center is now organizing new Peer Learning Circles for Emerging Leaders (e.g. development directors, assistant or deputy directors and other senior managers who report to the ED) who want to take advantage of the benefits of the unparallelled opportunities this proven design offers to professionals who recognize the value of peer support and group think.
