Position Title: Public Programs Intern

Position Description: The Public Programs Intern will work under the Public Programs Department of Asian Arts Initiative. S/he will assist with day-to-day responsibilities related to our Social Practice Lab neighborhood-focused artist residency and help coordinate a range of activities and artist projects that are part of our Pearl Street Project, including our annual Block Party. Responsibilities and projects will pertain to: Community Outreach, Writing, Administrative Tasks & Data Entry, Program Planning, Event Planning, Event Management, Research, and more.

Schedule Requirements: This is a part-time, unpaid position, beginning as early as September 2015 and running through December 2015 at the earliest. Estimated average weekly hours: 8 to 10 hours per week, with additional hours on occasional weekends and evenings, including the week(s) leading up to our annual Block Party, scheduled for Saturday, October 10.

Qualifications: • Experience and familiarity with Chinatown North/Callowhill neighborhood is strongly preferred • Familiarity with contemporary art and/or a background in art history is preferred • Must be dependable, responsible, resourceful and organized • Able to think independently and creatively • Able to work both unsupervised and as part of a team • Must possess strong writing skills
