New City Plan: A Running Start Philadelphia
Posted by City of Philadelphia on June 15, 2015
Last week the Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity (CEO) launched A Running Start Philadelphia: for every child, birth to five before an overflow crowd that included Mayor Michael Nutter, Democratic candidate Jim Kenney, representatives from City Council, parents, advocates and leaders in business, education, and civic affairs http://sharedprosperityphila.org/news/.
This comprehensive early learning plan addresses how to meet one of Shared Prosperity Philadelphia’s five strategies to reduce persistent poverty. You can access the executive summary or the full plan at: http://sharedprosperityphila.org/a-running-start-philadelphia/.
A Running Start was developed with input from 400 stakeholders throughout the city who took part in interviews, focus groups, community meetings or participated in an on-line survey. Like all Shared Prosperity Philadelphia initiatives, it’s designed to unite public, private and non-profit agencies around common goals and strategies to improve conditions for the most vulnerable residents of our city.
Be sure to check our web site for updates about the progress of A Running Start and let us know how you’d like to become involved.
