The 4th annual Sayre Health Fair is taking place this April, and I have had the pleasure of co-coordinating it! This has involved exploring the various resources that Philadelphia has to offer and contacting them to ask if they would like to participate. Onsite dental, vision and vital checks will be provided as well as important private, rapid HIV testing.
We expect to have about 20 groups in attendance, providing the West Philadelphia community surrounding Sayre High School with a variety of resources! Some of this will include nutrition and access to health foods, preventative care, women’s and children care, safety, men’s health, financial resources, resources for seniors, mental health, and advocacy. Jazzy the Clown, a crowd favorite, will be in attendance to provide music and entertainment and there will be a fun course for the children, yoga, Zumba and light refreshments served. Even the fire department is attending with one of their trucks!
I am positive this year’s health fair at Sayre Health Center will be a success, and I am greatly looking forward to it.
