EPIP supports grassroots projects
The Philadelphia chapter of the Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP) has released a Request for Proposals for its giving circle.
EPIP is a national network of professionals in the philanthropic, nonprofit and social entrepreneurship sectors committed to changing disparities across communities. It envisions a society where equality comes first and social justice is a reality for all. Leaders at every level are supported, connected and provided with the resources to improve their skills, build their influence, and connect with others working toward a common mission.
EPIP Philadelphia has developed a giving circle to carry out this vision in the city. Moving a community forward takes the commitment of more than a few, and part of the giving circle’s mission is to crowdsource a small but effective grant intended to give an identified community- based initiative the financial support it needs to be launched, completed or sustained.
Through a “Community Connector,” grassroots initiatives can be nominated for consideration during this funding cycle. Once an initiative is selected by the giving circle, the awardee will receive a grant of at least $1,000 to help address a community need or problem, with the strong potential for additional ongoing support and increased city-wide visibility.
Projects of all types are welcomed, from community pizza parties to staff training workshops to other creative strategies which help communities thrive. This design is based on a new form of philanthropy where community is first and funder criteria is second.
Interested applicants should submit a Community Connector Application and any supplemental materials by January 19.
