Philadelphia FIGHT is a comprehensive AIDS Service Organization providing state of the art, culturally competent HIV primary care, consumer education, advocacy, social services, outreach to people living with HIV and to those who are at high risk, and access to the most advanced clinical research. Our goal and hope is to end the AIDS epidemic within the lifetime of those currently living with HIV.

Volunteer Description

The Development & Communications Volunteer (“Volunteer”) is a vital position in the Administration Department of Philadelphia FIGHT. We ask that volunteers donate 6 to 10 hours a week starting immediately to support the events, marketing, communications and fundraising efforts of Philadelphia FIGHT’s programs and services.

The Volunteer will help with online research and writing to help secure sponsorships and grant opportunities; will assist in generating content for our social media and communications efforts; will represent FIGHT with other FIGHT staff in community and networking events, and will help FIGHT solicit for product donations and other volunteers.

There will be other administrative tasks assigned by the Chief Strategy Officer and Director of Development and Communications that are consistent with the responsibilities of this position.

Supervision and Key Relationships:

The Development and Communications Volunteer is directly supervised by the Director of Development & Communications, and works closely with FIGHT’s Communications Associate and Development Associate.

Qualifications

The Development and Communications Volunteer will have some work, school or volunteer experience in a related field including Communications, English, Marketing or Journalism. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and/or public health is preferred but not required. The Volunteer must be self-motivated, technology savvy and possess strong verbal and written communications skills. The desire for professional networking and a working knowledge of website content management, mobile apps, and social media are preferred.
