Thank you for your interest in the latest installment of the Youth Programs Resource Center?s audio conference series. This discussion will be held in a new web-based format and is intended to assist program developers and intermediaries, community organizations and policymakers by sharing information and resources on creating dedicated local and state revenue sources to finance and sustain youth programs and initiatives.
Speakers:
* Barbara Langford of The Finance Project will outline the major types of strategies and tips for consideration in creating local and state dedicated revenue sources for youth programs and services that policymakers, intermediary organizations, and youth advocates can work together to implement at the state and local levels.
* Sid Sidorowicz of the City of Seattle?s Office of Education will speak about the development and renewal of Seattle?s families and education levy, which provides funds for early child care, out-of-school time, and youth development programs. This initiative originated within the Mayor?s office in the early 1990?s and has increased in resources and support over the years while improving outcomes for youth.
* Michelle Doucette Cunningham of the Connecticut After School Network will discuss their successful efforts to work with advocates, policymakers, and program providers to increase funding for afterschool programs through new state legislation.
