Villanova Science & Theatre Magic Program

Explore – Create – Perform
July 9 to July 27, 2007

Looking for enthusiastic 13 to 17 year olds to participate in the third annual Villanova Science & Theatre Magic Program. These teenagers will spend the first week of the program getting faculty instruction in labs, classrooms, and the theater. During the second week, participants will transform what they’ve learned to design and create a science-based, day-long interactive performance ? a fanciful "School of Magic" to be performed for young children from Philadelphia-area summer camps. The third and final week: It’s show time! Program participants will conduct four performances of their original production. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. All participants are expected to attend all three weeks.

Mary-Angela Papalaskari (Computing Sciences) leads an interdisciplinary team of faculty and students in the development of this youth initiative combining science with the creative arts. The Science & Theatre Magic Program is sponsored by Villanova University, in partnership with the Academy of Natural Science s in Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Recreation.
