Civic Change Award to Recognize Community-Wide Efforts to Reduce Dropout Rates
Deadline: March 31, 2007
A program of the Pew Partnership for Civic Change (<a href="http://www.pew-partnership.org/">http://www.pew-partnership.org/</a>), the 2007 Civic Change Award will recognize organizations or individuals that demonstrate long-term concern for their community’s odds of success by implementing collaborations specifically aimed at reducing the high school dropout rate.
Potential nominees include art museums coordinating events and training for emerging young artists, locally operated businesses organizing summer internships for youth, or churches that run programs matching senior citizen mentors with young people. In order to qualify for the award the nominee must be able to demonstrate community collaboration, innovative implementation, and evidence of effectiveness.
Nominees will judged by the Blue Ribbon Commission for the Learning to Finish dropout prevention campaign. The commission will convene to review all nominations and choose one community-wide effort for recognition.
Application forms and information on previous recipients are available on the Pew Partnership Web site.
