SYNOPSIS: The sponsor awards grants to progressive grassroots organizations seeking systemic change in civil justice. Awards have a duration of one year and are provided for both general operating expenses and specific projects.

DEADLINE NOTE The February 15, 2005 deadline refers to mandatory letters of proposal. Full applications will be invited thereafter.
The sponsor is committed to preventing consumer injury and defending a consumer’s access to justice, through grants to progressive grassroots organizations seeking systemic change. The sponsor is especially interested in organizations or projects that find it difficult to obtain funding from more traditional sources because they are newly organized, and/or address a controversial problem. ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for a grant, an organization must have, or have applied for, 501(c)(3) status from the IRS; and must have a current annual operating budget under $500,000. FUNDING Grants range from $1,500 to $20,000.
