Applications Invited for Laura Jane Musser Fund Environmental/Community Initiative
Deadline: September 15, 2003
Through its environmental grantmaking program, the Laura Jane Musser Fund (http://www.musserfund.org/) seeks to encourage communities — whether represented by local governments, state agencies, or grassroots nonprofit organizations — to use a consensus-based approach to environmental decision making.
The Fund seeks to assist local governments or other public or not-for-profit entities in rural areas and non-urban communities in undertaking consensus-based processes in two areas: Environmental Stewardship and Environmental Dispute Resolution.
The plan presented to the Fund must demonstrate that it involves all the stakeholders; strives to engage the larger community; involves a neutral facilitator or mediator, where appropriate; takes into consideration the economic needs and long-term economic health of the community; and helps to establish a model process that can be replicated. The Fund is willing to consider grants of up to $35,000 for eligible programs.
See the Fund’s Web site for complete program guidelines and application information.
