Annual Angel Soft Angels in Action Awards Program to Honor Classroom Service Learning
Georgia-Pacific, the makers of Angel Soft bath tissue, have announced the fourth annual Angel Soft Angels in Action Awards Program, a program that encourages children to make a difference in their communities.
The program recognizes and rewards children 8-15 years old who execute exemplary acts of service to benefit their community, a charity, or cause. Ten finalists will receive $5,000, a one-year supply of Angel Soft bath tissue, and will be recognized in a special awards ceremony. Nominators must be at least 18 years of age. (Deadline: June 21, 2003)
In its fourth year, the Angel Soft Angels In Action Awards Program has expanded to include tools and instructions to help students, parents, and teachers get involved. With a new extension called Angel Soft Angels in the Classroom, the program will provide classrooms, Web users, and students and their parents with educational materials for creating and managing community-service projects. Program materials include an activity booklet to help students start a community outreach program, a parents’ newsletter to facilitate volunteerism among their families, and a guide for teachers filled with lesson suggestions and exercises.
As part of the expansion, the Angel Soft Angels in the Classroom Awards Program will honor teachers and students (grades 3-8) who perform exemplary service programs as part of the learning experience. One winning class will be awarded $10,000. The teacher of the winning class will receive $1,000. Teachers can nominate their class (grades 3-8) for the award. (Deadline: March 15, 2003)
