J. P. Morgan Chase Foundation Invites Applications for Financial Literacy Grants Program – Deadline: October 21, 2002

The J. P. Morgan Chase Foundation is dedicated to improving financial literacy in the communities it serves. The foundation’s Financial Literacy Grants Program is designed to help young people understand the basics of banking and credit, how to save and spend wisely, and how to invest so they can better manage their financial lives, build wealth, and more fully utilize banking services. The program provides funding that enables nonprofits, Jump$tart Coalition members, school districts, and government agencies to create financial literacy training programs, services, or lessons for a specific curriculum or course. These materials will be made available for distribution to organizations teaching financial literacy in school-based and after-school settings, youth entrepreneurship organizations, and workforce development programs in low- and moderate-income communities. Grants will range from $10,000 to $100,000.

To be eligible, an organization must be a tax-exempt organization or public charity with 501(c)(3) status from the IRS; be a qualifying nonprofit or a member of the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy or one of its affiliates; be located in or serve low- and/or moderate-income communities, and/or the project must benefit low- and/or moderate-income young adults or workforce development populations; and provide evidence that it is an active participant in the management of the project and has committed its own resources (financial and human) to the project.
