New Article: What kids want from food
Posted by on January 29, 2007
Many of us are trying to get kids? attention to help them make healthy choices; however, it can be tough fighting against the marketing of the multibillion-dollar food industry. A recent study completed by the marketing firm Just Kid Inc has investigated what kids (ages 2-12) really want from their food. Although the article is geared towards the industry, it reports that kids want food to be fun: cool shapes, bright colors, etc. The president of Just Kind Inc suggested: ?The key to getting kids to eat more nutritious meals is to inject the same levels of taste and fun they experience when consuming less healthy snack.? Our challenge as nutrition educators is to find strategies to do just so, despite our miniscule budgets (as compared to corporate food marketing).
