West Philadelphia Child Care Network Annual Conference

Mr. Maurice Sykes, Executive Director of the Early Childhood Leadership Institute at the University of the District of Columbia has agreed to be the luncheon speaker for West Philadelphia Child Care Network?s Annual Conference!
This years theme is ?How to Help Young Children Cope with Violence.?
The conference is scheduled for Saturday April 14, 2007 at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Call Dianne at 267-531-5245 ext 100 to register.
Maurice Sykes is currently Executive Director of the Early Childhood Leadership Institute at the University of the District of Columbia. As the former Deputy Superintendent for the Center for Systemic Educational Change and Director of Early Childhood Programs for the District of Columbia Public Schools he demonstrated his ability to take charge of change and brought significant, lasting innovations to the DC Public Schools? educational reform agenda. While at the U.S. Department of Education where he served as an Educational Program Specialist, Maurice advised the Department on educational policy and programs related to urban school improvement. Maurice also directed the Tufts University Day Care Center in Medford, MA, where he also served on the faculty in the Elliott Pearson Child Study Department.
