Start Something Partnership

Dear Youth Services and After School Program Providers:

United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania is proud of the work you do for our youth. As a community leader we appreciate all that you do to build a safer, stronger Greater Philadelphia Region.

Recently, representatives of Target Stores approached United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania to examine a program developed collaboratively with the Tiger Woods Foundation, called Start Something. Start Something is an exciting and valuable tool for our youth to learn and develop life skills in which Earl Woods used to support the talent of his son Tiger.

Tiger Woods and his father, Earl, author of a book on the same topic, inspired the Start Something program. The book, Start Something: You Can Make A Difference, and the Start Something program teaches kids that success can be achieved by taking small steps, and that the power to make a difference-either in their lives, their communities or in the world-can be found within.

To learn more about Start Something and this unique partnership between United Way, Target Stores and the Tiger Woods Foundation, please join us for a luncheon (Kosher and vegetarian meals will be available.) on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, 7 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm. The Target Foundation will provide a transportation allowance and distribute Start Something kits at the end of the luncheon.
