Posted by on April 14, 2014

Temple University Veteran Affairs, in conjunction with the Division of Student Affairs and the Link Incorporated Penn Towne Chapter will host a special forum for Women Veterans entitled; Her Story: She Wore Her Boots With Pride- Renewing Your Mind, Body and Spirit.

The forum will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 8:30am to 3:30pm, on Temple’s Main Campus at the Howard Gittis Student Center, Room 200, located at 1755 N.13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122.

We have planned an informative and inspiring program that will give women veterans an opportunity to engage in real dialogue about the many challenges and rewards they experienced during their tour of military duty.

The event will feature two dynamic guest speakers:

–  Dr. Edith Peterson Mitchell, FACP; Retired Brigadier General; Clinical Professor of Medicine and Medical Oncology; Program Leader, Gastrointestinal Oncology, Department of Medical Oncology; Director, Center to Eliminate Cancer Disparities; Associate Director, Diversity Affairs, Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson

–  Darlene Hunter, Motivational/Inspirational Speaker, Author, Radio Talk Show Host and Life Coach

Expert panelists will address the following areas: healthcare, employment, mental health, education, homelessness, housing and VA benefits.  There also will be a Resource Fair featuring a wealth of information about resources, services and opportunities for military women, veterans and their families.

Feel free to share this information via your social networks, especially with women veteran students, faculty and staff members at Temple University and beyond.  All of the details are noted on the attached flyer. Lunch will be provided courtesy of Temple University Student Affairs. The forum is free; however, registration is required at: http//:womenveteransforum2014.eventbrite.com.
