Tuesday, January 21 – Signature Program “Prison, Foster Care, and the Systemic Punishment of Black Mothers,” co-sponsored by the Netter Center

Introduction by Dr. Ira Harkavy, Associate Vice President and Director of the Netter Center
AARC’s 2014 Signature Program will feature acclaimed scholar of race, gender, and law Dorothy Roberts, JD. and will explore how the U. S. prison and foster care systems work together to punish black mothers. The intersection of these systems is only one example of over-policing that overlap and converge in the lives of poor women of color. This is a catered event with dinner reception and networking starting at 5:00 pm; program starting at 5:30 pm.
