Youth Site Coordinator (Part-time)

Asian Arts Initiative is seeking a dynamic and creative Youth Site Coordinator to join our Youth Arts Workshop (YAW) afterschool team for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year.  This individual should have experience or interest in implementing social change through the arts.  The Youth Site Coordinator will work with middle school youth at either one or two of our program sites: Southwark School (Mondays & Wednesdays) and/or Taggart School (Tuesdays and Thursdays).  Hours will vary depending on how many days and sites s/he will work.  S/he will report directly to the Youth Programs Manager.

Along with general administrative support (i.e. keeping record of attendance, submitting weekly reports, supervision of teaching staff, etc.), the Youth Site Coordinator will deliver on the following:

Outreach, Retention, and Supervision of Students
The Youth Site Coordinator plays an integral role in making a connection between the in-school and afterschool time.  As part of our outreach plan, s/he will support the school as needed during the school day working directly with students.  During after-school programming hours, the Youth Site Coordinator is responsible for the direct supervision of students, ensuring their safety and encouraging their full participation in the workshops.

Coordination with Staff and Community
The Youth Site Coordinator cultivates a safe and creative community in the school by working alongside teaching artists to develop engaging lesson plans and co-teaching workshops.  In addition, s/he actively seeks opportunities for collaboration within the school and among other organizations and/or individuals to enhance the learning experience for youth.

Requirements and Qualifications:
•    Previous experience working with urban middle school youth in the afterschool setting
•    A criminal record check and PA Child Abuse Clearance must be provided
•    Individuals with experience with an art discipline are encouraged to apply

Compensation:  Will be commensurate with experience
