low-cost refurbished computers for your org

Posted by on June 18, 2012

Vanguard Gives Back has partnered with the Computers for Schools program at PC Rebuilders and Recyclers (PCRR) to collect donated computers and related equipment and restore them for schools and nonprofit community organizations.

Background information:

Vanguard became involved with Computers for Schools after one of our leaders was “principal for a day” at a local high school in 2003.  He was amazed by what the kids were accomplishing with computers – everything from composing songs to solving advanced mathematic equations. The problem is schools don’t have enough computers for what they need and he thought Vanguard could help.  Shortly afterwards, we teamed up with the “Computers for Schools” program and now Vanguard wants to ensure that this opportunity is available to all community agencies in need.

The refurbisher, PCRR, is a national, not for profit organization that collects and refurbishes old, outdated computers and equipment, and gets them in shape for future use.  Since our first drive in 2003, Vanguard and our employees have donated over 3,500 computers.

Computers for Schools will protect donor privacy by completely erasing all data from the hard drive as part of the initial recycling process. The software used conforms to the U.S. Department of Defense sanitizing standards, which makes the recovery of data impossible.  Therefore, your new computer will come to you squeaky clean!

Additional details:
1.   Nominal fee required ($200 for a complete desktop system – includes an LCD monitor; $235 for a laptop).
2.   Computer delivery is based upon “availability” and will influence our ability to fulfill all requests.
