Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Offers Support for Projects to Apply Behavioral Economics to Perplexing Health and Health Care Challenges
Deadline: November 2, 2011 (Brief Proposals)
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has announced Applying Behavioral Economics to Perplexing Health and Health Care Challenges, a new initiative to support innovative ideas that apply the principles and theories of behavioral economics to perplexing health problems. This funding opportunity is being sponsored in part by the Donaghue Foundation, which funds medical research that promotes practical benefit.
The program is particularly interested in supporting either experiments or secondary data analyses that test innovative solutions to the challenges of obesity and consumer engagement.
To be eligible, ideas should apply the principles or paradigms of behavioral economics to a persistent health or healthcare issue. Proposals are encouraged from a range of disciplines, including but not limited to behavioral economics, decision theory, economics, public health, sociology, psychology, marketing, nursing, and medicine.
Preference will be given to applicants who are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are not private foundations as defined under Section 509(a).
The foundation expects to make approximately ten awards of up to $100,000 each under this Call for Proposals. Projects may last for up to eighteen months.
An optional informational webinar will be held on October 19, 2011. (Registration is required.)
Visit the RWJF Web site for the complete Call for Proposals, application procedures, and to register.
