Center for Schools and Communities Research Briefs

The Center for Schools and Communities is pleased to announce its ongoing series of Research Briefs. This series provides succinct and accessible summaries of the Center’s research and evaluation efforts to support effective decision-making and program implementation. The Research Briefs, which target a range of professional stakeholders, including educators, youth development practitioners, funding organizations and policymakers, focus on timely issues that impact children and families in the Commonwealth. The first four Research Briefs examine bullying prevention and obesity among school age youth.

Since 1988, the Center for Schools and Communities has been committed to improving outcomes for children and families through training, technical assistance, and resource development. Evaluation is a central activity in tracking these outcomes, and in turn the Center has extensive data on its programs and initiatives. Using these and other data, the Center’s Research Briefs were initiated in fall 2009.

The Research and Evaluation (R&E) Group at Center for Schools and Communities designs and conducts comprehensive program evaluation and research. Services include project management from conception to execution, grant writing support, data collection design, data analysis, application of evaluation findings, and strategic consultations for existing projects. The R&E Group has extensive experience to select the appropriate evaluation methods for quantitative and qualitative projects. Clients include education systems, foundations, municipalities, universities and private industry, as well as grant-funded projects supported by state and federal agencies.
