Sun Life Financial Seeking Applications for Sun Life Rising Star Awards
Deadline: July 1, 2011
Sun Life Financial has announced that it is seeking grant applications from nonprofit organizations that advocate for youth from underserved communities in Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and South Florida (Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Broward, Lee, Hendry, Collier, and Monroe counties).
The Rising Star Award program seeks to improve the lives of underserved youth by providing support to students and nonprofit organizations committed to increasing their success in high school and beyond. Now in its second year, the program will again award more than $1 million in total funding to outstanding students and nonprofit organizations in the eligible market areas.
Three organizations from each location will receive a grant of $50,000. In addition, a student involved in each of the winning organizations’ programs and nominated as part of the award application process will receive a $5,000 college scholarship.
Applicant organizations must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and promote skills that directly translate to educational success in high school for students under the age of 21. Applicants must operate within forty miles of an eligible location.
