The 5th Annual Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color (COSEBOC) Gathering
Boy, Don’t You Turn Back Now: The Power of Resilience

Announces

A Call for Workshop Proposals

I am pleased to announce the release of COSEBOC’s annual Call for Workshop Proposals for the 2011 Annual Gathering of Leaders, generously supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The theme of the Gathering, “Boy Don’t Turn Back Now: The Power of Resilience,” is drawn from the poem, “Mother to Son” by the literary giant Langston Hughes. This theme presents us with an important provocation, challenge, and opportunity. COSEBOC seeks presenters who are actively engaged in the implementation of promising practices, research, or policy that demonstrate their commitment to and understanding of this year’s theme. We would also value presenters who are familiar with the core areas of the Standards and Promising Practices for Schools Educating Boys of Color, developed by COSEBOC in partnership with the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education at New York University.
