New Report: Impact of School Gardening on Learning

In England, there are currently 12,000 schools signed up to the Royal Horticultural Society’s “Campaign for School Gardening,” benefiting over 2.5 million students … This week the RHS has issued an excellent, in-depth, highly informative new study showing the many ways that school gardens benefit youth: ““Not only does gardening provide opportunities for increasing scientific knowledge and understanding, and improving literacy, numeracy and oracy, but this report shows that it also improves pupils’ confidence, resilience and self-esteem.”
This research should be a great boost to USA school gardening activists making the case for the educational + social value of our initiatives …
