YWCA of Bucks County?s 2006 Salute to Women
Wednesday, May 3, 2006
The YWCA of Bucks County will hold its 15th Annual Salute to Women Who Make a Difference Awards Dinner on Wednesday evening, May 3, 2006.
The event will honor women who have been nominated by their companies, organizations, co-workers and friends for outstanding professional and/or volunteer achievements that have served to better the lives of others within Bucks County.
This year?s Salute to Women Who Make a Difference Awards Dinner is centered on a 1950?s theme. ?We were looking for a unique and festive spin for this year?s Awards Dinner,? said Lorna Michelson, Ph.D., executive director of the YWCA, ?so we?re calling it the ?YWCA Sock H-O-P?. ?H-O-P? is our acronym for Helping Other People, which describes the wonderful work of YWCA awardees. These women have sacrificed many hours of their time and given so much of their talents and energies to improve the lives of many people in our communities. The ?H-O-P? theme was chosen as a fun way for everyone to enjoy the evening while appropriately honoring and calling attention to the awardees? accomplishments.?
This year, the YWCA will present sixteen awards to honor those who embodying the concept of truly making a difference. Nominees include Ellen Saracini, who has channeled her energies to affect local and national change in security in our post 9-11 world. Her vision of The Garden of Reflection 9-11 Memorial is about to become a reality in Lower Makefield. Another nominee is Ms. Queen Sumbler, of Bensalem, who has served her community and local school district diligently for two decades. And new this year is a ?group? nomination, the Sisters of St. Francis, who have dedicated their lives to caring for patients at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne.
The 2006 Salute to Women Who Make a Difference Awards Dinner will be held at King?s Caterers in Bristol, PA, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and will feature a social hour with hor d?oeurves, a formal dinner, the presentation of awards, a dessert reception, dance contests, and a fun raffle.
