Fab Youth Philly Events for Teens in September: STATE OF YOUTH & EDUCATION IN PHILADELPHIA

Fab Youth Philly would like to invite teens across Philly to a number of events taking place this month, as part of NKDCD’s A People’s Exposition with a special emphasis on two events:

Friday, September 18th (Philadelphia schools are closed this day for teacher PD) and Wednesday, September 30th.

For teens who attend at least three of the five sessions this month, they can earn up to $200 stipend. LINK TO REGISTER HERE.

On Friday, September 18^th from 12pm-5pm, at the Kensington Engagement Center, we are co-hosting with Harlem Lacrosse, Educators for Education, Mercy Career & Technical High School, Photography Without Borders, Motivos Magazine, Make the Road, Temple University Collaborative, POPPYN and others a YOUTH SUMMIT ON THE STATE OF YOUTH & EDUCATION.

The day will look something like this:

11:30 doors open/registration & lunch until 12:30

12:30-1pm, welcome, overview of the day, brief activity

1PM-2:303PM: Youth Mental Wellbeing x 2-3 different activities/workshops

• Mindfulness/yoga
• Bike riding lessons with Indy-Go bikes & other sports demonstrations & activities

2:45-4:15: Other topics/workshops

• Transit Forward doing a roundtable/listening session/feedback
• Round table with CM Ahmad
• Your Voice, Your Impact: Student Leadership in Action

4:30-5pm: Closing

5-6 Networking, Dinner, resource sharing & clean up

On Wednesday, September 30^th from 5:30-7:30 Temple University Collaborative & POPPYN will present two short films made & produced by teens on the topic of (the lack of ) Third Spaces in Philly and also The Cost of Becoming an Adult. The short films will be followed with small group discussions – and that’s where we want YOUR TEEN’S input! 

At all events there is REAL food, meaningful resources, opportunities for networking and fun swag.
