JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Youth Sports Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
DATE: January 2007
POSITION PURPOSE
Mange the development of branch youth and adult physical education programs, youth progressive gymnastics, cheerleading and aikido, physical education contracts, gymnastics camp and rentals/parties. Develop, implement and maintain youth sports programs that are responsive to member needs. Create new and innovative programs, and improve existing programs and services. Hire, supervise, train and develop competent values and mission driven staff. Cultivate relationships with volunteers and committees. Provide leadership in fund raising activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Leads the development of programs and services in the assigned departments. Ensures growth, quality, innovation and participant satisfaction. Provides safe and progressive programming for members.
? Provides direct leadership to teach, coach or personally lead programs and services as appropriately assigned. Provide direct expertise to gymnastics programs.
? Assist as the onsite Camp Director for gymnastics camp.
? Manages the activities and personnel of the department staff. Ensures effective and member oriented work process; provides direction and training to staff. Ensures effective communication of program and service information to staff. Ensure effective training to develop to their full potential in spirit, mind and body.
? Assumes accountability for the financial success of assigned departments. Develops and administers assigned department budgets and manages approved budgets.
? Facilitate member feedback and respond to concerns. Promotes a safe and healthy environment. Follow up to ensure member issues are resolved and communicated.
? Supervises, recruits, trains and develops required staff to conduct programs and services. Establishes position descriptions, standards of performance, monitors and evaluated performance.
? Participates as a member of the management team responsible for the overall operations of the branch.
? Participates in the Annual Support Campaign and other financial development activities as appropriate.
? Attend YMCA and other trainings as required.
? Actively participates in the Association program or management cabinets as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Maintains clean and orderly facilities, storage areas.
? Performed other related duties as assigned.
? Responsible for the care and storage of all program related equipment.
? Participate in the planning and implementation of special events.
REQUIREMENTS:
? A BS in Physical Education or related field with 2 years related experience.
? CPR and First Aid Certification within the first 90 days.
? Experience with a variety of sports.
? Extensive experience in recreational gymnastics program development and marketing.
? The ability to motivate assistants.
? The ability to lift 75 lbs.
? Ability to relate to and partner with parents.
? Serve as a role model in the character development of children
