AT&T Cares Youth Service Action Fund to Support Community Service Projects
Deadline: February 28, 2003
Youth Service America (http://www.ysa.org/), an alliance of organizations committed to increasing voluntarism among America’s young people, and telecommunications company AT&T have established the Youth Service Action Fund to help young people engage in community service on National Youth Service Day and beyond. National Youth Service Day is an annual event designed to mobilize youth to address the needs of their communities through service, recruit the next generation of volunteers, and educate the public about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders.
The AT&T Cares Youth Service Action Fund offers support to youth (ages 5 to 25) and organizations to plan and implement service projects on National Youth Service Day 2003 (April 11-13). While projects may have a service-learning component, youth are encouraged to use their creativity and resourcefulness to address unmet needs and problems in their communities, whether or not the projects are tied to a curriculum. Twenty-five grants of $500 are available to youth and youth organizations.
Grant recipients must use the funds to complete a service project on one or more of the designated dates for National Youth Service Day, and must post their projects on the National Youth Service Day Web site.
See the Youth Service America Web site for further information and an application form.
