Job Description

General Description:
The Youth Researcher (YR) is responsible for administering satisfaction surveys to WorkReady participants in the EPI, SCEP, and YouthWorks programs at varying worksites in the city. The YR will collect data from the field, analyze that data, and prepare written reports of the findings. The Youth Researcher will be trained in research and evaluation; PYN and WorkReady Philadelphia programming; leadership skills; workplace skills; and teamwork. The duration of the internship will be from June 26, 2006 to August 11, 2006.

Eligibility Requirements
? 16-21 years old
? Must submit a complete and updated resume
? Must submit an academic or work sample (preferably a writing sample)
? Must successfully complete an interview with YSS Project Coordinator

Essential Functions:
? Completing weekly journals
? Public speaking at worksites
? Administering and collecting surveys
? Making survey appointments by telephone
? Attending scheduled trainings and meetings
? Creating formal reports for surveyed contractors
? Entering data into Excel and SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) software
? Work with others to complete a culminating PowerPoint presentation of summer project
? Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience & Skills Required:
? Must be able to work well with others
? Must be knowledgeable or proficient in Excel
? Must be knowledgeable or proficient in Word
? Must have prior work experience (at lease one previous job)
? Preference will be given to former participants of WorkReady programs (i.e. YouthWorks, SCEP, EPI, BMY, SDI, etc.)
? Public speaking skills helpful but not required
