Youth Development and Empowerment Coordinator

Y-HEP’s Youth Development and Empowerment Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and clinical supervision of Y-HEP’s Empowerment Center and Prevention Counseling staff. This position supports the Y-HEP Program Director in integrating Y-HEP’s contracts with its overall Empowerment Center programming and ensuring that all staff are appropriately trained to provide case management and counseling to meet the needs of Y-HEP’s youth participants. This position is largely focused on the daily operations of Y-HEP’s Empowerment Center Drop In services, onsite programming, oversight of prevention counseling, and street outreach to engage vulnerable youth to access Y-HEP’s suite of services. The Youth Health Empowerment Project (Y-HEP) is one of Philadelphia FIGHT’s Education Programs. Y-HEP works to engage and empower high risk and vulnerable youth ages 13-24 to make healthy choices about their lives through a comprehensive range of services.

Job Requirements

Education: This position requires a Master’s of Social Work (MSW), LSW or LCSW highly encouraged. Experience: This position requires a minimum of three years working with at-risk youth and three years as a supervisor.

Skills: Demonstrated experience working with high-risk youth, familiar with current therapeutic interventions, ability to facilitate groups; excellent reading skills and deductive reasoning skills; excellent communications, interpersonal skills and collaborative skills; flexible, self-motivated, organized, able to work well under pressure; computer literacy required; sensitive to cultural, economic, gender, and sexual orientation differences; knowledgeable of local resources and services; demonstrate flexibility in working conditions and work hours, including evenings and weekends; knowledge of Spanish desirable.

Miscellaneous: Must be able to get to work on a daily basis and on time. Must be able to work cohesively with others and must be able to take feedback and constructive criticisms. Must be willing and able to agree to employment terms
