TAKE A STEP BACK WITH YELLOW RAGE
Asian American Female Spoken Word Duo perform and release their new CD, ?Yellow Rage, Volume 2?, further challenging misconceptions of Asianness
PHILADELPHIA, PA?(MAY 18, 19, 20, 2006)? The Asian Arts Initiative presents our Artists & Performance in Action (APIA) Residency Program featuring APIA resident Artists, Yellow Rage Urban Rehearsal, Performances and Record Release Parties.
Philadelphia-based artists Yellow Rage release their second CD entitled, ?Yellow Rage, Volume 2?, written and performed by founding members Michelle Myers and Catzie Vilayphonh. A dynamic duo of Philly-based Asian American female spoken word poets, Yellow Rage uses poetry to provide an awareness that is not often heard. Exploring topics from fetishes to cultural appropriation to ethic pride. Yellow Rage challenges mainstream misconceptions of Asianness through demonstrating how their concerns about issues pertaining to the APIA community have grown in very significant ways.
An Open Rehearsal will be held on Thurs, 5/18, 7-8pm, inviting people to watch as Yellow Rage rehearse for their shows that weekend. This is an opportunity to give others a glimpse of their performance process and preparation. It is free and open to the public. Yellow Rage will then be performing and officially releasing their second CD on Friday and Saturday, 5/19 & 5/20, both at 8pm. These shows will feature work from their second CD with special guests DJ Phillee Blunt of Ill Vibe Collective and Dan Kim of Asians Misbehavin?.
