Workshop on utilizing volunteers for disaster relief
Posted by on June 3, 2005
Whether we?re ready for them or not, they will come…
Disaster Volunteers!
Volunteers ? sometimes hundreds, sometimes thousands ?show up to help after a disaster, bringing skills, energy and compassion to the relief effort. Whether we refer to them as ?spontaneous? or ?unaffiliated,? local residents know the lay of the land and are familiar with local agencies. ?Convergent? volunteers from elsewhere bring energy and fresh hope for the future of the impacted community. Both can help survivors in unexpected ways ? if we?re prepared for them!
Please join the United Way of York County, York County EMA, PEMA, PennSERVE, and
