Having a Difficult Conversation
Do you frequently avoid confronting a co-worker, boss, spouse or friend for fear of saying something wrong? Do you dread having a conversation that might have unpleasant consequences? This interactive workshop explores what makes conversations difficult and how to utilize techniques to get to the interests of the parties involved in the conflict. Discover practical skills that help keep the conversation constructive and learn techniques that boost your confidence to handle tough topics. Attendees will participate in developing tools to de-escalate conflict and remaining future focused. Participants will practice raising and clarifying the issues, gathering information within difficult conversations, as well as enhancing their problem solving skills. The training will examine language, dealing with destructive speech, ground rules, managing strong emotions and peacekeeping.
