Workshop examines the trauma-informed service model
The Public Private Task Force on Homelessness, facilitated by the People’s Emergency Center, will present a workshop on the Sanctuary Model on Wednesday, January 27th.
The Sanctuary Model, developed by Sandra Bloom MD, is a trauma-informed method for creating or changing an organizational culture in order to more effectively provide a cohesive context within which healing from psychological and social traumatic experience can be addressed.
The workshop will demonstrate how implementing the Sanctuary Model and providing trauma-informed care affect all corners of an organization, and how being trauma-informed translates into providing housing-related case management.
Staff from Jane Addams Place of the Lutheran Settlement House will lead the workshop. Participants will learn about the implementation of the model at Jane Addams Place from four different perspectives, a resident, advisor, case manager, and cook. Questions can be sent in advance to David Roth.
The workshop will take place from 9-11am at a location to be announced. RSVP by emailing [email protected] and include your name, job title, organization, and email address. For more information, email Kelli Bowers at [email protected] or call her at 215-382-7522 ext 264.
